Piano Man

A friend of mine has a piano and we sat Declan down in front of it. He didn't start banging on it like most kids would do...he just gently placed his fingers on the keys and lightly started pressing down on them! It was sooooo cute. Between being obsessed with papa's guitar and now wanting to play the piano, I think we have a budding musician on our hands!

Viva Las Vegas!

Declan kicks back on the plane and gets ready to jet off to Vegas with the family. His daddy and papa are running in the Las Vegas marathon! Only 20 months old and already on his second vacation! Let the adventure begin!

Town Square

Our favorite part of Vegas was this huge outdoor shopping center called Town Square. We had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (so the guys could carbo load before the big day.) In the middle of Town Square they have a children's park and for the holidays they have a huge Christmas tree, a cute little village where you can visit Santa Claus and they make it snow! See the pictures below!

LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!

Declan was soooooo excited to see it snow! He got lots of little soap flakes in his hair! He had a great time!

Running men

My dad and husband did AWESOME at the marathon. Both had their best marathon times yet. They said it was a fast course. They want to do it again next year so I guess we'll be back! And I will hopefully be running the 1/2 marathon. I have a whole year to get ready for it! LOL.

Meeting Elvis

The Strip

After the guys recovered from their marathon, we decided to walk the strip that night and show Declan some of the hotels and sites. He slept thru most of it though! He didn't get to see the MGM lions, and he missed seeing this cute m&m. As you can see, he is sound asleep in his stroller. Little did we know he was coming down something.

Bellagio fountain show

Declan woke up just in time to see one of the best shows in Vegas...the Bellagio fountain show. And he seemed to enjoy it even though we could tell he wasn't feeling to great. The show was set to "Luck Be a Lady" by Frank Sinatra and after it was over, Declan kept singing "Lady, lady". It was cute. But soon after, he started going downhill and getting sicker. He had a rough night.

FAO Shwartz

I was looking forward to visiting this store all weekend but because Declan wasn't feeling well, he didn't get to really enjoy it that much. He managed to walk across the big piano a couple times but he just wasn't his normal, playful, happy self. He was a kid in a 3 level toy store but just wanted to be held by mommy the whole time. And mommy didn't mind one bit. Anything to help him feel better. Maybe next year's trip will go a little better and he'll be able to have fun in this giant toy store!!

Good sport

Even though Declan was feeling sick, he was a good sport about sitting amongst all these giant bears in FAO Shwartz just so mommy could get a pic. :)

Festival of Trees

We went to the Festival of Trees today. Hundreds and hundreds of trees to see! This one was pretty cool...A "Twilight" tree. You can see the banner on the tree says "A Cullen Christmas."

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

We decided to do something a little different this year. The three of us took a gondola ride to the top of Snowbasin and had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at The Needles Lodge. The ride up was beautiful and peaceful, the dining experience was amazing (see the food portion of this blog!) and of course the company was nice! It was good to spend Thanksgiving with my two favorite men. I am so thankful to have them both in my life. I love you David and Declan!

So the following is how our weekend went... and we hope everyone had as nice a time as we did!

Up The Mountain!

At the top!...

We played in the snow for a bit! It wasn't even that cold...I think the temp reading in our gondola was 45 degrees. Not bad at all! It was perfect weather for a Thanksgiving outing like this!

Our Table

We loved that they had our name on a table for us. We felt so special! :)

The Food!

Not only did we have turkey, ham, roast beef, shrimp, stuffing, potatoes...but we also had a HUGE selection of desserts. Yep, we died and went to bakery heaven. I wish they had to-go boxes because I would have taken one of everything!! See that cake right there in the middle? That was too die for! That's what I had. Just a slice of that. Nothing else. Yes, I'm crazy...but I'm also borderline diabetic so I had to be careful not to eat too much sugar. But now, looking at this picture, I wish I could go back in time and try some other things too!! :)

...more from our lovely dinner...

Declan is such a little flirt! He captured the eye of every lady in the lodge!

Yes! Even the piano player! LOL!

Declan's favorite part of the entire feast was this big pumpkin cookie!

Dig in Declan!

Back down the mountain

I love this shot of Declan pressing his face up against the window of the gondola.

Chillin' with the Cousins

After our Thanksgiving dinner, we stopped by my sis's house to hang out with the fam. The kids put on a Thanksgiving play for us and Declan had fun just seeing his cousins. From left to right...Preston (8) Kate (19 months) Declan, Carson (7) and Tyson (4).

Go Tigers!

What would Thanksgiving weekend be without a little college football? Daddy and Declan watch the game while mommy found other stuff to do! :)

The Ogden Christmas Parade!

This was our first year taking Declan to the parade. Our friends Nanette, Patrick and Mikayla met us there. It was a great time! I remember going to the Christmas parade when I was a kid so it's nice to be sharing an old tradition with my own child. But when I was little, Santa rode a red sleigh in the parade...so I was a bit dissapointed this time when Santa rode up in the back of a pickup truck! They definately need to bring back the sleigh! :)

They even had fireworks!

One of the beautiful floats at the parade!

Sweet Christmas Kisses!

Declan shares a smooch with girlfriend Mikayla at the parade. What can we say, the love was in the air!

Can I get fries with that deposit?

You know you're feeding your kid too much fast food when you go thru the drive-up window at the bank and you hear from the back seat "fries! fries! fries!"

But let me tell you, feeding a toddler is next to impossible. Or maybe just feeding my toddler is next to impossible. I used to worry constantly about what he eats but I have decided it is a battle not worth fighting. Tonight Declan had a banana and some pancakes for dinner. I guess it could be worse! He was screaming for cookies but I told him "no cookies for dinner." I don't really know if pancakes were really that much better but at least I didn't give in and give him the cookies! He's growing, he's happy, he's healthy, so I don't pull my hair out so much anymore. :)

20 months

Dear Declan, you are 20 months old today! It is amazing to me that you are almost 2 years old! I was watching you walk with your daddy today and you looked so grown up. Hard to believe it wasn't long ago I was cradling you in my arms. I miss that, but you make up for it with the big hugs you give me when you wake up in the morning. I wrap a soft blanket around you and lift you out of your crib. You sit on my lap in the rocking chair and we read books. You like to read books with Elmo in them but you have other favorites too. Mostly you like to point out things in the books...moon, clocks, chairs, animals, all sorts of things. You continue to amaze us and everyone around you at how fast you learn new words! One word I'm not particulary fond of that you learned is "TV." This is not a word mommy likes to hear. Mommy doesn't want you to watch a lot of tv but every now and again it's ok. You like to watch Little Bill, Elmo's world and your My Gym dvd. You are growing big but I'm not sure how because you hardly eat anything! You, my son are the pickiest eater on the planet! We try to get you to eat new things but you refuse. You do like avacados and that makes me happy because they have lots of nutrients! Hopefully one day you will learn to appreciate all the wonderful foods out there! Now that you have perfected the skill of walking, you are moving right on to running!! Your favorite thing to say when the car comes to a stop is "Run." You know that we are getting out of the car and wherever we are going, you want to run around there! Sometimes, just to let you burn off some energy, we will go to the grocery store and mommy will let you loose! It's a workout for me to keep up with you! :) I think you are definately going to be a runner like your daddy. I know you will look up to him and want to be like him someday. Another thing you like to do is sing! That is something mommy likes to do too. You like to sing in the car and sometimes you want to hear the same songs over and over and over. And that's ok because mommy loves to hear you sing!! You will be my karaoke partner someday ok? Well that is all I have for now. I love you my little ball of energy! You make me so proud everyday and I can't stop staring at your beautiful face. You are truly a wonderful little boy. Hugs and kisses, mommy.
