What Declan's been up to...

Playing with the bubbles is the best part of storytime at the library!

Riding the carousel with mommy and daddy at the Utah State Fair!

Declan and his cousins with daddy and papa after they finished a marathon!

He may be sweaty, but he's still my daddy and he makes me so proud!!

Other stuff!...
Declan is officially a walker. No more crawling for him! He walks everywhere. Just a few weeks ago, he wouldn't take one step without holding my hand, now he doesn't want my hand at all! My little boy is so independant! That will take some getting use to for me! Declan is also learning new words everyday. He suprises us all the time with the things he can say. Daddy bought him a basketball. He calls it his "backetball". I will have to post video soon of all the fun words he can say! If I could ever get time to make the video! Anyway, above are some pictures from the past couple weeks. We went to the state fair, storytime at the library and just this past weekend we watched daddy run his 13th marathon and papa run his second!! Congratulations daddy and papa!

Bullies

It was bound to happen someday, I just wasn't prepared for it to be this soon! My baby was bullied!! By a big mean bully boy! Actually, the boy was probably about 3 years old...old enough to know better! We were at the library for storytime and the bully just walked right up to Declan and pushed him down. And Declan had done nothing to provoke this attack! This 3 year old was just a mean kid! I was in shock. I told that little boy to keep his hands to himself and that there was no reason to have pushed my son. A few minutes later he came back and pushed him down again! I was furious. I've never wanted to punch a 3 year old in the nose so bad in my life! I don't know where his mother was (or I would have punched her in the nose) but I will definately keep an eye out for her if she brings her bully of a son back to storytime next week! In the meantime, I'm going to see if 18 month olds can enroll in Karate!! :)

You AMAZE me!

My sweet, beautiful, bright Declan. Do you know how smart you are? You will be 18 months old this week and already you know how to say about 30 words! Teaching you is very easy because you are eager to learn. And mommy found out tonight that your memory is incredible! A few weeks ago we visited our friends that live nearby and they introduced us to their dog "Cocoa." You picked up on the word immediately and called the dog by name. Well, just tonight, we went back to our friends' house (for the first time in about a month) and as soon as you saw the dog you shouted "Cocoa!" How you remember his name is beyond me!! I could barely remember the puppy's name! But you mr. smarty pants are a genius. Your aunt Lindsey says you must have a photographic memory! You amaze us every day Declan! We can't wait to see what you do next! Keep learning and growing! Love, mommy.

Daddy's home!

For the past two weeks, Declan and I have been on our own! Daddy had to go to Hawaii for air force reserves. We did lots of things to keep ourselves busy though! We went to the Treehouse musuem, went to Peach Days in Brigham City and watched a parade and rode a few rides. We went to several farmers markets to get some goodies and we hung out with friends from our mom's group! Plus we spent lots of time at nana and papa's house! Everyday Declan would point to daddy's clothes in the closet and say "dada". I know he missed him. When daddy got home, Declan welcomed him with a big smile and a few steps!!! Yep, Declan learned to walk while daddy was away. We're glad you're home daddy! Now it's your turn for diaper duty!!!! :)

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it either! But here it is...the moment we've all been waiting for....drum roll please....

Finally! Some time to blog!!

It's Thursday, my day off from work and I'm finally able to sit down and do some bragging...I mean, blogging! :)
My little baby is becoming such a little boy! He is a little sponge these days soaking up so much information it's incredible! He is saying words that I don't even know where he learned! Today he was watching me clean up and said "Bumbo". He pointed to his little bumbo chair which he doesn't even use anymore so how would he know what it's called? He must have remembered from a few months ago when he used it more often.
Other words he is now saying..."rock," (he loves to collect them) "purple", "cukoo", "Elmo", "plane","swing"...and he loves to say the word "Apple". He is constantly asking for an apple but when I give it to him he doesn't want it. So I think he is just showing off by repeating the word over and over. Yeah, we get it Declan...you're Mr. Smarty pants! :)
Although I am loving this stage where he is learning so much, it's also exhausting. He is into EVERYTHING. He pulls open bathroom drawers and brushes his hair with my hairbrush...but also pulls out deoderent sticks and pretends to brush his hair...lol. In less than 2 minutes our bathroom can look like a tornado hit it! Declan still isn't walking but he is now standing up by himself (without having to hold on to something) so we think he is getting close! His favorite thing to do is to push his "la-la" which is his way of saying "Lion." It's his first word in the morning and last word at night..."la-la". He also says "car" at least 82 times a day!!! And if he doesn't get to go outside to push his lala around he throws the world's biggest tantrum. And sobs "lala"...it's heartbreaking but sometimes a mom needs a break you know? :)

Breakin' hearts everywhere! Happy 17 months Declan! We are your biggest fans!! Love Mommy and Daddy!

Strike a pose!

The cutest thing about these pictures is that he wasn't put into this pose...he just did it himself! What can I say...he watches a lot of America's Next Top Model with mommy. ;)

Fair days

Mommy and grandpa took me to the Weber County fair today! I milked a cow, rode a pony and bungee jumped....What did YOU do today?

Milking a cow

"I have no idea what I'm doing here, but mom said it would make a cute picture."

Declan's first pony ride

"What kind of crappy merry-go-round is this??"

Bungee swing!

We thought our little tigger would love bouncing on this bungee swing but it seemed we were more entertained by it than he was! side note: There was a girl about his age that was on this right before he was and her name was Declynn!! Crazy huh? I thought it was amusing, but her parents seemed more annoyed that someone else had the same name as their daughter.

Click on the pic to enlarge! You gotta see his face!

" You paid 5 bucks for this mom? For that kind of money I would have been happy with a churro!"

"Kitty!"

Declan saw this sheep and immediately said "Kitty!" My goodness, that is one big kitty Declan! :)

Here pig pig pig!

oh that baby face!

I love this picture of Declan. He just has the cutest little expression!

Halloween??

My sister in law asked me a couple weeks ago if I knew what Declan was going to be for Halloween. I kind of laughed it off...I mean, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind. Afterall, it was the middle of July!! Who thinks about it that early??? But now that she has mentioned it, what Declan will be for Halloween is starting to weigh heavily on my mind!! I'm starting to receive costume magazines in the mail and I find myself looking at them again and again! So for the next couple months I'm sure I'll be obsessing and searching for the perfect Halloween costume! Thanks a lot Misty! ;)

Here Ye! Here Ye!

We present The Little Duke of South Weber City!
We entered Declan into the baby contest for South Weber days and he won! He was in the contest last year (won for "most stylin'") but we forgot our camera, and then this year, our camera poops out on us! So the images aren't the greatest! The theme for the contest this year was "Earth Angels" and babies were to come dressed in "50's" attire. So we got out the hair gel and slicked back his hair, put him in a white shirt with jeans and gave him a guitar to rock out to. And the look couldn't be complete without a "mom" tat on his arm. He looked adorable! For winning the pageant he gets to ride in the parade next Saturday. His grandparents and girlfriend Mikayla will be in attendance. :) Congratulations my little Duke!

What did the Duke win??

A cool slinky dog!

However...

He's more interested in the box of course!

Yes, I'm gonna frame this!

Grandma's visit

My grandma McAlhany came to visit us last week! She flew in from South Carolina which is about ten thousand miles away. We did lots of fun things like going for walks, swimming, going out to eat, taking a train ride and playing with toys. I don't get to see Grandma McAlhany very often so I'm glad I got to spend some time with her. I love you Grandma!

Sour Face!

I tried a lemon for the first time...mom and dad laughed but I don't see why it was so funny! I don't think I like lemons!

Rockstar

Grandma put her sunglasses on me and I transformed into a Rockstar!
